A little backstory about me, I am a nurse with several chronic illnesses, so I cannot currently work due to my health. I have always been creative and enjoyed crafting and making art. I started crocheting when I was little but really picked it back up whenever I got sick because I would have to lay on the couch, and crocheting beats doomscrolling. I love making little creatures out of yarn that have their own little personalities. I hope you find a wonderful little critter or creature to bring some extra joy and happiness in your life! If you know her, you know she's the kind of person who is always the first to show up for someone else. She's spent her life caring for others, putting everyone before herself, and finding ways to help whenever she could. Now, she needs us. Over the last 9 months, her life has been turned completely upside down. After years of unexplained symptoms, she became so sick that she could no longer work. She tried everything she could to keep going—adjusting medications, changing her diet, seeing specialists, and pushing through unimaginable pain and exhaustion—but her body simply wouldn't let her. She recently received long-awaited answers from an EDS specialist and was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). She has also been diagnosed with ADHD. These conditions affect every part of her daily life. She lives with constant pain, overwhelming fatigue, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitations, temperature regulation issues, and many other debilitating symptoms. Everyday tasks that most of us don't think twice about—taking a shower, cooking a simple meal, getting dressed, or even making a phone call—can cause her heart rate to skyrocket and leave her completely drained. She now relies on a cane whenever she leaves the house and uses a walker for longer outings to conserve the little energy she has. As her health declined, she exhausted her savings while on medical leave. She ultimately lost her job, and without an income, she also lost her apartment. She has had to move back home with her family, who have been an incredible source of love and support during the hardest season of her life. This fundraiser will help cover the overwhelming costs that come with chronic illness: specialist appointments, diagnostic testing, medications, mobility aids, travel for medical care, and everyday living expenses while she focuses on getting the treatment she needs.
